STabMZ: Inside Leo Fioravanti’s Big Fat (& Glamorous) Italian Wedding

It’s been a while since we did a dedicated feature on a non-oceanic gathering of pro surfers. That either means we’ve lost our TMZ touch, or surfers have become infinitely less glamorous/more boring.

The latter is certainly not true of Leo Fioravanti.

Coming off the tied-best finish of his career (9th in the world), the 27-year-old Italian-born pro was wed to Hawaiian-born model and influencer Sophia Wilson this past weekend at a stunning, centuries-old Italian fortress overlooking Lake Bracciano.

Castello Orsini-Odescalchi — a castle in Bracciano, Lazio, Italy, just an hour northwest of Rome — was built in the 15th century, when it served as both a military defense structure and a civilian residence for papal families Orsini and Borgia. In 1481, Pope Sixtus IV took refuge in the castello to avoid a nation-sweeping plague; nowadays it serves primarily as a museum and regular wedding venue.

To honor the occasion, Leo draped himself in the classic armor of the modern groom — a black suit cut sharp and layered with a waistcoat, tied together by a silk tie as dark as wet stone. Sophia floated beside him in a column of white — strapless, sculpted at the bodice, then breaking free into a floor-length skirt cleaved with a daring slit. They wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of Vogue.

Speaking of, the wedding was shot by Matteo Rossi — an Italian wedding photographer who’s scored covers of Vogue, Elle, and other major titles for his betrothal imagery. It doesn’t hurt that the service was framed by a golden, late-summer sunset — the type you’d find in J.M.W. Turner’s early work.

By the looks of things, Aperol Spritz were flowing early and often, and the catering team provided enough meats and cheeses to give Koa Smith cardiac arrest. While surfing’s wellness sensei wasn’t in attendance, half the surfing world was.

Noteworthy attendees include: Jack & Julia Robinson, Connor and Stephanie O’Leary, Lakey Peterson and Thomas Allan, Zeke Lau, Cole Houshmand, Kanoa Igarashi, Joe Turpel, Benji Weatherly, Ramzi Boukhiam, Aritz Aranburu and more.

No further details of the event have been revealed, but “we nearly made it all the way to the Dawn Patrol Show on the dance floor,” Lakey Peterson jested on Joe Turpel’s IG post commemorating the occasion. We’d pay good money to watch that programming.

Have a swipe below to witness the hottest surf-adjacent party of the summer — even surpassing the Fiji Finals send-off, if we’re honest.

And congrats to the bride and groom!

Lakey P and hubby Thomas Allan, looking downright royal at Castello di Bracciano

J-Bay champ Connor O’Leary — a long way from Lennox’s blue collar chic but looking rather comfy nonetheless.

Our 2026 world title pick Jack Robbo, dripping in BOSS and accompanied (as ever) by his lovely wife Julia.

No word if Stab fav and Emmy winner Joey T conducted the service, but who wouldn’t want their marriage declared by those velvet pipes? Joe was dressed by Generation Tux.
