Eli Hanneman Is A Homebody At Heart
Flinging at his own little Lowers.
Eli Hanneman has the means to be anywhere, any time, chasing the world’s best waves. But more often than not, he prefers the playful wedges out front of his house on Maui’s west side.
With a Lowers-esque reef that picks up any bit of south swell, and Honolua Bay that fires on the norths, it’s not surprising that Eli finds his side of the island more appealing than the typically blown-out northerly coast, where Albee and Matt are either flinging shit at the wall at Ho’okipa or getting 30-second hold-downs at Jaws.
Of course Eli could (and does) spend his time on the more wave-rich island of Oahu, but that entails dealing with lineups that are difficult to navigate on the mellowest of days. Eli has put in enough time to get some serious waves at Pipe, but ultimately, he appears happiest on home soil.
Watch above as Eli splashes around the neighborhood, and tell us you’d do anything different in the same situation.
