Australia’s Challenger Series Squad Is A Sprawling Charcuterie Board Of Berries, Pâtés + Hard & Soft Cheeses
Behold the 14 Southern-crossed surfers degustating at Snapper.
Ronnie Blakey and Laura Enever once developed a comprehensive-list of food-themed nicknames for high-profile surfers. There was Bon Bon Florence, Harissa Moore, Italo Ferrero-Rocher, Quinoa Igarashi, Crepe McTaggart, to name only a few.
With the QS5000 in Newy officially bookending the Oz region’s QS series, it’s time to serve up the newest sizzling hot plate of Changaz warriors. In keeping with Ron + Loz’s spirit, we thought we would go ahead and rename the freshly-anointed 8 and 6 Australian male and female qualifiers, according to their closest Charcuterie item.
Without any further Deli-dallying, here they all are.
Men: Joel ‘Vienna Sausage’ Vaughan, Dakoda ‘Walnut’ Walters, Alister ‘Arugula’ Reginato, Jarvis ‘Jamón’ Earle, Tully ‘Tapenade’ Wylie, Oscar ‘Blue’ Berry, Morgan ‘Mortadella’ Cibilic and Winter ‘Vinaigrette’ Vincent.
Women: Ellie ‘Edamame’ Harrison, Paige ‘Pâté’ Hareb, Philippa ‘Parmesan’ Anderson, Rosie ‘Tart’ Smart and Saffi ‘Saffron’ Vette.
A fine spread of condiments if you ask me, something for everyone.
After the Goldy, CS surfers will head to Narrabeen in May, Ballito in July, Huntington in August, Ericeira in September and finally, Saquarema in October.
Surfers keep their best of four of six results, whereafter the hungriest top 10 men and top five ranked women join the 2025 Championship Tour.
