TCSS Make 2017’s Best Trunks
More on our search for the greatest spontaneous short.
The Critical Slide Society were just crowned A Place In The Sun competition winners…for the third time running. Winning a design competition, with a stacked judging panel, is no small feat. But, to be crowned the champion of champions, nay the greatest spontaneous trunk creator of all time, well that is something else. Stab couldn’t close off A Place In The Sun without publicising the TCCS team thoughts and how they celebrated:
“We actually just got back from the pub.” Sam from TCSS told us “But it’s epic. When you go through all the brands and talented people behind them, it’s quite a coup. With our previous wins we’ve been understated in claiming the title..this time..after three wins..I reckon we can go a lil ham?”

This is how The Critical Slide Society announced their new title.
Why do you keep coming back?
“It’s pushes us to innovate. And we really like to read the hate mail.”
How much thigh is too much thigh in 2017?
“17 inch is currently the right amount of skin. But rewind a few years and you could get away a with a lil more.”
Set ups around the muffin top?
“The adjustable waist or tie is so contextual. On a boat trip, and scoring solid waves, lace it tight. If it’s a more casual affair..go elastic.”
Does your team get involved in the creation process?
“Yeah. The third eyelet was developed with them. They will always give us honest feedback and wear our product the hardest, if stands up to them thrashing it, it will work for 90% of people in the ocean.”
Before you designed trunks, was there a magical pair that stood out?
Sam:”There was a great pair of Mambo Angry Man boardies I had as a kid with an oversized Angry Man graphic patch on the leg. It had a solid leg panel and yardage print on the other leg. Circa 88.”
Mud:”Warpaint Quikky short and the ‘8108’ Hot Tuna short.”
As our three time champs, should Stab hold A Place In The Sun again?
“For us, it’s a great opportunity to talk boardies. It’s what we do. As a team we get together at lunch and discuss new design ideas, new fabrics, trims, prints..etc.”
“So shit yeah!..it helps to fuel our passions.”
Congratulations The Critical Slide Society, see you in the sand.
