Stab‘s favourite festival of surf films, being the San Sebastian Surfilm Festibal, is back again this year. Set in the alleyways of the Basque Country’s most charming coastal city, the Surfilm Festibal stretches from May to July and hosts a ton of killer nights that include screenings, art shows, and parties. Aside from amazing culture, architecture, wine and pintxos, the festibal also attracts a parade of cute gals and good times. The year that Stab attended the festibal, films shown ranged everywhere from Who Is JOB? to Thrills, Spills and What Not, and some other very engaging titles. There’s documentaries, there’s experimental films, there’s hi-fi, there’s everything y’want.
Below is a mini-series to promote the Festibal, starring Kepa Acero. It’s an ode to Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (if you’ve not seen it, perhaps do a quick Google Images search to get a vibe before watching). It’s an excellent example of the Festibal as a whole – fun, quirky, Basque.
Tickets, info, vibes, all that jazz, right over here.
