Here’s Seven Frontrunners On Track To Win A Fijian Surf Voyage

Who’ll wear Cloudbreak best?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is a simple competition: nominate a mate who you believe is capable of holding their own in thundering Fijian tubes alongside the likes of Asher Pacey and Otis Carey and they score a spot onboard their vessel. While your talented friend gets to join the gents on their South Pacific adventure, you, as the nominator, win yourself a years supply of Vonu beer and a signature Asher Pacey DHD Twin Fin.

Think of it as a consolation prize for your generosity!

The entry system is easy, pick a talented mate, throw together a 25-word endorsement and tag #VonuFirstMate on your Instagram post then we’ll do the rest.

Entries don’t close until the 30th of June, so you still have time to submit your pal, but we will let you know that competition is heating up – as you’ll see below with the five frontrunners we’ve handpicked from the submissions so far.

Nominated: @korbinhutchings – Korbin Hutchings
Nominator: @jacksoncoffey

It’s evident in Jackson Coffey’s nomination post that young Korbin can thread a right hand tunnel, can he swing the other way? We’d sure like to find out.

Nominated: @keepittropical – Jarrah Tutton
Nominators: @repofoto, @luke_dorrington, @stixpixproductions, @snapt3, @olibenz, @scummers_88, @adeadcoffinclub, @proctor_surfboards, @dingomorrison, @hayzedayz, @kaneskennarphotography.

Mr Tutton is one of those individuals who’d fair just fine in the Fijian atolls with nothing but a knife and his favourite hunk of fibreglass. Currently he has the largest and most impressive backing for the job.

Nominated: @arlzybrah87 – Arlon Fonmosa
Nominator: @michaeldavismeehan

“Self promotion isn’t really his bag (he probably won’t see this) and he’d probably hate me entering him in this, but he’s kinda perfect,” explains nominator, Michael Meehan. “Rotuman/Indigenous heritage – threads tube, wets rail, loves the tropics and loves beer.” Stab believes all criteria have been met for Arlon to prosper on this south pacific adventure.

Nominated: @dunnibuddons – Lewi Buttons
Nominator: @micleshred, @alexsullivan_ @harrisonsan

There’s nothing quite like watching a twin fin skate down a mountain of Cloudbreak fury. We’d be delighted for Lewi to be the man behind the controls.

Nominated: @danepitman – Dane Pitman
Nominator: @hazad

Rumour has it this man is more than capable of drinking the team under the table, then front up the very next morning glass-eyed and scratch into the wave of the day. We want proof.

Nominated: @samlendrum – Sam Lendrum
Nominator: @ilovetables, @bones_is, @shane_morto

Mr Lendrum has the backing of Noa Deane, arguably one of the most credible endorsements of the competition thus far. Slide into his feed and you’ll be greeted with a Globe sticker (more backing!) and a hell of a lot of dispersed water.

Nominated: @seanmawson – Sean Mawson
Nominator: @darcywardvisuals, @russelbierke

Sean ‘Sea Mullet’ Mawson has appeared on the walls of Stab in the past. Everything we’ve seen from him seems worthy of holding up against the other boat trip talent. He’s got revered filmmaker Darcy Ward and large wave deity Russ Bierke singing his praises.

So get those thumbs tapping and while we have your attention tell us below who out of our impressive frontrunner talent deserves a spot?

You & your nominee must be 18+. Ends 30/06/18 11:59 pm AEST. T&Cs apply.
