Photolyfe: Derek Dunfee

Welcome back to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab’s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. Derek Dunfee’s a big wave charger from San Diego. He hit us up yesterday about his photo exhibition DEKKA 3, the third zine he’s put out. “DEKKA 1 and 2 covered 10 years of big wave photography, from about 2004-2014,” Derek told Stab. “I travelled everywhere for those zines: Mavericks, Oregon, Todos Santos, Cortes Bank, Maui and Oahu, Puerto Escondido,  Tahiti, South Africa and Ireland. DEKKA 3 covers the past three years of my big wave travels”
