“Roy Moore’s Next Career Move Is To Become A Stab Commenter”
Edition 113.
It’s a busy time of year for surfing: Triple Crowns, requalification, first time qualification and of course Johnny vs. Gabby at what is shaping up to be some seriously lacklustre Pipe. Anyway, let’s have a squiz of the past week’s happenings at your favourite Iggy Pop fan page.
We’ve seen empirical proof that age is just a number with the Stooges frontman, Iggy Pop, prowling your screen more vibrant than ever. Followed up by a Wash x Iggy collab at the Billabong house at Pipe and some appropriate partying.
A masterclass of self-shaping and tearing went down at Haleiwa, showing why all of us should one day close down our browsers and take our own hands to a foam blank.
We also found out that the jovial JOB is the OG culprit behind the theft of Carrol’s ‘Snap’ board many moons ago.
The Bay called the day on/off with some unruly swell. John attempted some commissioner tomfoolery with a sneaky morning backdoor tunnel and the Stab crew “accidentally” missed the best swell at Honolua this season.
The Pipe comp also spluttered into first gear: John made his heat, Julian dropped in, priority was explained 25 times and Gabby went straight to Round 2.
In graver news, we lost the founder of modern surf film, Bruce Brown – the director of The Endless Summer. There was also a murder on the North Shore. The details are terrible.
Away from the North Shore calamity, Chippa showed us that boards don’t matter whatsoever and that he can surf your Uncle’s boog better than anyone. Taj joined the Epokhe family and we also took you for a tour around God’s country – the Central Coast – with Beau, Ace and Mooney showing us the local ropes.
Among all of this, the royal contingent of delinquents murmured amongst the weekly (or past two weeks) content. Without further ado here are my 10 best (worst?) comments of the week – from the articles I could be arsed to re-read. If you have any complaints, direct them to the vanishing dog, iHusky.
