StabFM: Shoulder Season
Of longing for and remembrance of summers future and past.
In our Los Angeles office, we’re sifting through hot spells and intermittent fog, awaiting June gloom with the taste of summer on our tongues. Meanwhile, our Australian counterparts are holding on to the last bit of warmth. Autumn is approaching, but there’s still time for flowery beach towels, umbrellas, “eskis,” and minimal neoprene (area dependent).
That’s right, shoulder season is upon us!
So, in this silly time of longing for and remembrance of summers future and past, we’ve delved into our personal Spotify accounts to piece together a playlist for one of life’s greatest pleasures: Beach Days!
Nothing too cerebral here, just a selection of tunes meant for a light breeze in your hair, a fruity libation in hand while your face enjoys shade courtesy of a nylon canopy. Because now’s the time to take yourself less seriously, let your belly hang (or tighten up!), and, most importantly, let the good times roll.
Plug this playlist into your Spotify, turn the volume up and enjoy the smooth sounds of Stereolab, Loving, CAN, Elvis Depressedly (an artist’s name we’re particularly fond of!), The Jim Mitchells, Happyness, Mazzy Star, The Magnetic Fields, Spike Vincent, Fritz, The Garden and so much more.
This is a mix for watching the ocean mold the sand, raspberry sorbets over the horizon – a playlist for the birth and death of a day.
Hit play.
Here’s the third instalment of our semi-regular, whenever we feel like it series. For more playlists follow StabFM.
