Yuri Soledad stabs the night sky
Little man, big wave.
It’s like feeding a tic tac to a whale. Here’s the wave that Yuri thought held his fate, during the last massive swell at Jaws. It’s a tow-in and tow’s lost its flavour, however, this wave would have been plastered on every surf shop wall if it was ridden six-eight years ago. The way he navigates the drop and bowl with mind bending speed is phenomenal, all the while his front foot was slipping out of the strap. “I remember looking down the line and the west bowl was already coming. I never even made it to the bottom really,” Yuri told Stab on the beast. “To show the full potential of the wave sometimes you have to go all the way to the bottom, even if it means losing some speed, but I knew midway down I had to do something. When I saw the whole west bowl closing out and I was like, Holy shit, I’m going to die here!”
