Who Knew We Needed Mick x McTavish Until It Was Here?

If so, you’ll know that seeing the world’s top performance surfboards on alternative equipment is something we thoroughly enjoy. 

Our EAST films test this very concept, a bubble where world’s best give it their go on some of the strangest craft known to man. Thankfully, FCS has pushed one of their long tenured riders to do the same. With Bob McTavish winning their annual “FCS Legend Shaper Award” last year, FCS has been long awaiting the time that they could link Mick Fanning with the legendary Australian Shaper. Then Murphy’s Law came into play:

• Mick blew out his knee filming our Stab In The Dark All-Stars
• Bob underwent surgery for cancer (of which he is doing better)!
• Uhhh Corona

Anyways, after a year-long wait the two have finally found blue skies with which to test McTavish’s Bluebird model, a classic, single fin silhouette developed for long clean walls that Mick salivates over. McTavish has been surfing Lennox for as long as anyone, so it was only fair that Mick tested the board at the long right point.
