What Does It Take To Qualify For The Olympics?
Canadian starlet attempts to conquer the world.
We’ve addressed how it’s actually mid-tier surfers from obscure surfing nations that should be training to compete in the Olympic Games.
Due to the IOC’s strict qualification guidelines, many of surfing’s greatest will be left sitting at home while Jhonny Corzo becomes the world’s best surfer (for the next four years!), in sloppy Japanese beachbreak no less.
Conditions aside, it appears Canada’s Noah Cohen has heeded our warning and is currently on a path to making Olympic history. As it stands, Canadians have only ever Olympic-qualified in hockey and that sport where you ski for a while then take a break and shoot at things.
That’s not true, but still, it would be cool and funny if Noah made it for surfing, right? Imagine how white he’d be under that wetsuit!
Take a look at Noah’s Olympic journey above, if not for the self-narration then for the pumping Canadian surf (with Pete D!).
