Were There Any Goofies On The Goldy This Week?
Sadly for screwfoots Cyclone Oma provided tubes only for those with the left foot forward.
At this point, we’ve seen too many videos of four-to-10 second tubes on Australia’s Gold Coast, courtesy of tropical Cyclone Oma.
Some are calling it the Newmibia of 2019 (just bigger, better, etc.)
Nevertheless, of the hundreds of spinning cylinders we’ve witnessed on Instagram and stabmag.com over the past week, only three or four of them have been ridden by goofies.
Meanwhile, anecdotal evidence places the general surfing population at 1/3 screwfoot, which begs the questions: what the fuck, guys? Are backside barrels really that hard?
I get that at a running right point speed manipulation can be tricky on the backhand, but how is it that you guys have next to no clips in the surplus of Oma videos circulating the internet?
We saw a photo of Damon Harvey’s bomb and a couple clips of Jarrod White, but where are the rest of you screwfooted freaks?
Nick Vasicek? Occy? Parker Coffin? We know you were around!
As if we needed further proof of the backhanders’ lackluster performance, the video above, as filmed by local lensman Jesse Little, has exactly 0% screwfoot participation. This truth will be devastating for the global goofy community, but on the backs of Italo and Medina they will rebuild and conquer at the 2019 Quikky Pro.
…Assuming there’s any sand left on the Superbank at that point.
(Please let us know about any stellar b-hand performances we might have missed in the comments).
