Watch: Dylan Graves Vs. The Portuguese Ferry Wedge
Episode 3 of Weird Waves heads to an aquatic transport hub with a killer sandbar.
Portugal is home to dozens of world class waves, but Dylan Graves didn’t visit the sardine nation for any of them.
Instead, Dyl set his sights on a non-coastal town on Lisbon’s Tagus River, which happens to offer a small, occasionally decent wave every ten or so minutes. When the local ferries are running, that is.
Gasoline (that’s gas-o-lIne), as the wave is called, can be either a long, left point or a crossed up wedge of varying magnitudes depending on a number of factors, including:
– ferry speed
– number of occupants on the ferry
– ferry direction
– number of ferries in motion
-tide
Watch as Dyl and his local guides attempt to solve the ancient ferry puzzle on this episode of Weird Waves.
