Watch: 15 Minutes Of San Diego’s Annual Pipeline Impersonation

Last year, Jimmy Wilson started some Instagram beef by posting a raw session of this exact wave, on almost exactly the same day.

“I made the call to post that video because there was a hundred people there with cameras,” he remembered in a recent Empty Set interview. “Literally, you couldn’t walk 10 paces without hitting a camera. At one point, there were 10 people within a 10 foot radius of me literally shooting over my shoulder. I just figured fuck this, I’m fucking posting my clips. This is insane.”

This year, you’ve probably already been bombarded with endless footage of this wave doing it’s annual Pipeline impersonation. But, chances are you haven’t seen a handful of the waves, or angles, in the above clip.

“Personally for me, after a couple of decades of shooting and staring at surf in San Diego, this is the best wave I’ve ever seen ridden in SoCal,” wrote photographer Scott Sullivan, about Skip McCullough’s effort, which you can watch a version of here.

Hard to argue with.
