This Is The Most Diverse (And Fun!) Wavepool In The World
Lefts, rights, wedges, tubes, air sections and more come to Waco, Texas.
Oh, and what a race this is!
American Wave Machines just released their answer to Kelly Slater’s Founders’ Fountain and Wavegardens’ Cove. And, it looks insanely fun. The pool is in a two-acre lagoon. Inside, there are air chambers that, depending on what wave they want to produce, fire accordingly. The wave is ran from an iPad. It’s modern tech at its finest (more to come on just how this pond works).
17 months ago, we spoke to Jamie O’Brien and Cheyne Magnussen – enlisted by American Wave Machines to help design the waves you see above.
Jamie told Stab when the wave was the scaled down prototype you see below, “We are going to get lefts that spit, rights that spit, ramps, and draining sections. We even made a wave that looked just like the wedge. Whatever you can dream of you can build with this. Using the prototype we made waves ranging from points to hollow rampy stuff. I’m so excited to be involved in it.”
About a year and a half later, the real thing exists at a cable park in Waco, TX.
And, it delights!
