How’s The Bank Looking At Barra?
Owen Wright, Morgs Cibilic, and Luke Swanson let us know.
In 2006, the Rip Curl Search ran at Barra de La Cruz. It was some of the best conditions a CT event had ever seen. According to Kekoa Becalso, who got 17th, “I surfed the heat of my life against Slater and was combo’d, but I got the two sickest waves and came in smiling. It was the best heat I ever lost.”
Following the Surf Ranch event in June, which was the worst contest anyone had ever surfed in or watched, the Rip Curl team checked Mexico’s surf report and pinned it down to Oaxaca on a hopeful whim. They were greeted with a week’s worth of pumping waves, which presented the perfect opportunity to trial new boards and fins on the long, running walls of the perfect sand-bottomed point break.
Morgan Cibilic screams a lot in this clip, he also does some good turns and gets very sunburnt. Luke Swanson aka goofy-mini-John-John gets three waves the entire time and Owen Wright puts on an incredible backhand surfing clinic, as per usual.
The Corona Open Mexico waiting period starts tomorrow. I am fucken pumped.
