If in 2007 when Kai Otton qualified for the elite world tour, someone told you that when Otto was well into his thirties, he’d be winning world tour events, would be winning the ASP’s prestigious breakthrough performer of the year award, and was cutting edits with two backside airs (not even air revs) on one wave, you’d probably think the guy was other-worldly-high. Still, these are all facts and this is a man with an indefatigable spirit. When poor results struck him down for a few years and he barely re-qualified for the tour, he did time in India getting to know himself with meditation and time on his own.
