Watch: The New Wavegarden Tech In Action
Can ‘The Cove’ stand up to Kelly’s Wave? You decide.
Wavegarden and URBNSURF just released 60 seconds of reasons why they’ll be at the forefront of the new wave order started by Kelly Slater’s Lemoore creation. The benchmark has been set, it’s barrels or nothing and Wavegarden isn’t ready to lay down and drain themselves dry just yet.
Recently a spokesperson for URBNSURF told Stab that ‘The Cove’ was coming and to expect big things. They spoke of being able to create high frequencies of waves with variable shapes, sizes and most importantly, almond shape tubes. However after their seemingly endless run of technical difficulties and shutdowns we weren’t sure what to expect, if anything. Then, this dropped:
And as of today, we have our hard evidence, direct from Wavegarden’s Vimeo account.
Here’s what we know so far:
-The Cove can produce 1000 waves per hour, commercially slaughtering Kelly’s current design which requires 6+ crucial minutes to settle before the next wave can be pushed.
-These are the exact designs set for rollout at the proposed URBNSURF Sydney, Melbourne and Perth locations.
-Waves can be produced to run in either left or right hand directions.
-The shape of the wave is customisable, gifting riders with draining almond shaped barrels or soft walls for wraps and carves.
With the official release date just two days away, keep it dialled, we’ll have more for you shortly. In the meantime, allow your mind to enjoy a few chlorinated rides alongside test pilot and San Sebastian local, Norman Landa.
