Hurley’s 2017 “A Place In The Sun” entry – and the sentiment behind it – is so real that they required one of the realest voices in our sphere to give context. Mr Craig R. Stecyk III, an artist, writer, photojournalist and filmmaker of Dogtown genesis, tells no lies in this short film. Yeah, this is a brand most commonly known for championing the technical boardshort. And it’s easy to pigeonhole. But Hurley is surf, and surf is eclectic! So it’s no surprise that while their entry this year is a masterpiece of innovation, it’s not dorky science lab innovation, but experimental, riff and jam, dirty hands innovation. And ain’t that the real spirit of surf?
