How Nathan Florence Stole His Brother’s Stab High Invite

Who can deny the overwhelming appeal of Oahu’s twinkly-eyed, contagious-smiled, middle Florence bro?

While John recently regained his status as the world’s best surfer with a Bells display that transcended time and location, Nate has been on his own trip of late, training like a madman for the Southern Hemi season and dedicating an inordinate amount of time to flight lessons.

No, not in a plane like his big bro did, but out in the surf, where soaring is free and crashes are not lethal but all part of the fun!

And Nate crashes a lot. Based on his recent vlog, a conservative estimate would be 90% of the time, but he’s made vast improvements and has even stomped a few proper full-rotations over his four months of training. 

That’s why, when Nate discovered and then proceeded to steal John’s Stab High invite, we didn’t have the heart to tell him no. And now that we’ve had time to digest the situation, we’re rather chuffed that he’ll be joining our field of fliers this year. Imagine if he pulls one of those backside flips(!).
