Dylan Graves Continues Arctic Audit
“Up here, every surf is a race against light, weather, and time.”
The tech age has its flaws, but it’s also given us Dylan Graves’ YouTube channel, a surf travelogue of sorts, spotlighting affable oddballs across the planet who happen to enjoy surfing.
In this episode, Dylan’s still in Norway, but now he’s at the northernmost surf shop on Earth, run by a silver-haired figure aptly named ‘Uncle Frost.’ Unc wandered into Lofoten back in the ’80s, a bay with a left and right that looks very enjoyable when the stars align, kept coming back, and by the ’90s, got stuck. He opened his surf shop as a way to finance his stay.
“Really good vibes, compared to many places,” Uncle Frost says, when asked why he stayed.
“As most surfers know, you don’t always get the conditions you expect,” says Dylan. “But you’re never bummed on the effort. At the end of the trip, commitment is usually enough.”
Did anyone know Norway has the 2nd longest coastline in the world? Plenty of nooks and crannies begging for a closer look. Watch Dylan dissect a few above.
