Filipe Toledo And Yesterday’s Maui Breeze
Horizon and lip divided like Republicans and Democrats.
Filipe’s a 21-year-old father, the world number 10 and has a long time for his surfing to ripen. And as the young Brazilian suffers from criticism surrounding his performance in overhead-plus surf, nobody’s ever staked the claim that he’s not a weapon in the small, rampy stuff. For this reason, he’s won the US Open of Surfing in Huntington twice in the past three years–in 2015 he lost to Tanner Hendrickson in the semis. But, if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Filipe and filmmaker, Bruno Baroni’s Single Session series is every session, Filly is going out and working on a particular part of his dance. If you’d like to revisit, we’ve got rail at Haleiwa, well overhead tubes at Off the Wall and combos in Dana Point on the hyperlink tap.
