Before Eli Hanneman Hurt Himself In Waco, He Did This At Home
Watch Eli’s pre-Stab High, daily routine of full rotations and tubes in “HOME.”
Stretch out those knees, folks.
As two superstar surfers in the past few weeks fall victim to the vulnerability of those pesky hinge joints, the surfing world is as conservative as ever. People are doing “mobility exercises,” taking collagen supplements, and grabbing the handle while getting out of the car.
The problem with knee injuries is that they often come out of nowhere, leaving even the fittest and most flexible athletes unstable and in pain. Unfortunately, as surfing transitions from a flowing, fluid style into a more high-impact sport, injuries in the joints below the waist will become a norm.
As was the case with Eli Hanneman, who injured his knee in the Stab High warm-up sessions. But, it’s not all bad news from the 16-year-old Hawaiian. After pulling out of the contest, Eli decided to drop his short film from the past few months in Hawaii, while he waits to find out the extent of his injury.
The two-and-a-half-minute edit, aptly titled “HOME,” shows just how in-form Eli was before tweaking his knee in the pool. It is this poor timing that makes knee injuries so devastating.
Heal up, Eli!
