A Good Year – Part seven
Travelling the world, you’re bound to meet some interesting people. Here’s a couple of the cooler cats that our panel met on their adventures… Craig Anderson: I met Taylor (Steele) at the start of the year for that Castles trip. It sorta set my year off, watching how he deals with things. His whole act is pretty cool, like how he had no camera gear – it was worth a lot of money and they told him he wouldn’t get it back, but he wasn’t even phased really. he just wanted to get the job done. He was so calm and collected when he was handling every situation. I hope to be like that one day. Dion Agius: Leonard Smith. One of the friends we hung with day to day in New York. He’s maybe one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and would go out of his way to help out a friend. He lives in brooklyn and is an amazing, amazing photographer. Jay Davies: I met so many interesting people, I lived in California for three months. Actually, the guy that pops up into my mind is (ex-pro football player) Andrew Johns. He was on this trip with us and he is one of the funniest characters I’ve ever come across. He told me great stories. He’d sit us all down and tell us the funniest stories. No one else would speak for hours. He’s a legend, for sure. Ozzie Wright: A mate of mine called Bob Moore. He used to work for Mambo as an artist and he lives in Bali. When I was in Bali I did an art show with him. He also played drums on a song I did. We became and hopeful we’ll be friends for a long while. Wade Goodall: Metallica’s bodyguard, Tom. He was an absolute hell-man. The kinda dude I would never really get the chance to even speak to, y’know? He’s from a totally different world that I’m not in. But just getting to know him in Costa Rica, then I went and saw Metallica two nights in a row when they went to Brisbane and I saw him again. His stories about the bands and celebrities he’s bodyguarded for, and talking about how the tour’s almost over and he’s gotta work out who he’s going to bodyguard for next… he was just really cool. For a guy who makes you run away just by flexing… he was so fricken nice. Dave Rastovich: Lauren Hill How about you, readers? Meet anyone special this year?
