A Chat With Stab in the Dark Winning Shaper Marcio Zouvi

I know, I know, we’re late…

We promised you episodes of The Drop every Friday, and while we plan to maintain that promise, this week we had the opportunity to chat with the shaper behind the winning Stab in the Dark board Mr. Marcio Zouvi.

The humble and meticulous man behind Sharp Eye Surfboards talks to our host Danny Johnson about his surprise victory, as well as Taj’s high-level surfing, going so far as to compare him to Filipe. Despite Taj’s bouts of self-deprecation, we’re sure he’ll get a kick out of Marcio’s flattery.

At 19:01, Danny calls up Kai Lenny to find out if he is indeed human, and if so, what makes him tick. When it comes to high-performance tow surfing and chasing the world’s biggest swells, few surfers display the chutzpah or dedication of Kai, who claims the ultimate goal is to “ride 100 ft waves and do backflips down them every single time.”
