Haydenshapes Unleashes: Untitled

A highly welcome quiver addition.

If you’ve ever owned a Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto, you’ll understand why they were the best-selling board model of 2014 (and second best-selling in 2015), and why Craig Anderson felt comfortable enough to ride a 5’4” cut of the shape at 10 to 12 foot Kandui’s. Hayden Cox’s speciality is blending user-friendly shapes with sophisticated aesthetics, and this is something Stab is drawn to. But more than that, Hayden chooses his team carefully, and utilises them the best way possible in product R&D. Which is what makes the newest HS model, called Untitled, a shape worthy of attention.

This is a craft that’s all about speed, versatility and fun – according to the HS team, among the most fun board models to date. Above, we get a vibe for how it works beneath the feet of Creed McTaggart, as well as fresh team member Nate Tyler.

Here’s a word from the fabulous Hayden himself:

For the tech-lovers out there: The Untitled has a slightly fuller plan shape, and the winged swallow tail carries a deep single concave to vee to get you up to top speed in even the most mushy conditions. Lean on the higher tail rocker and you’ll discover a very reactive and tight arc. A flatter deck profile along the centre third of the board helps carry more volume, giving the board an amazing ability to catch waves, along with added stability when up and riding. The best of both words, really.

Sensitivity and performance in the back third, good paddle power, great acceleration to top speed… certainly worth consideration as an everyday performance shortboard.

Here’s how the HS team take theirs:

Creed McTaggart: 5’9″ x 19 3/4″ x 2 7/16″ – 29.94L
Nate Tyler: 5’6″1/2  18 7/8″ x 2 5/16″ – 25.95L
Craig Anderson: 5’6″ x 18 3/4″ x 2 3/16″ – 24.19L
Dylan Graves: 5’6″ x 18 3/4″ x 2 3/16″ – 24.19L
Hanalei Reponty: 5’6″ x 18 7/8″ x 2 3/16″ – 24.92L
Cole Houshmand: 5’8″ x 18 3/4″ x 2 3/16″ – 25.36L
