This morning, Taj Burrow surfed Cape Solander, otherwise known as Ours, with two pals.
In the week leading up to the weekend, it was close to impossible to talk to a surfer on the east coast who wasn’t whistling like a kettle at the prospect of the impending swell. Some said it was gonna be 10 feet, others said it was wildly over-hyped.
The reality was somewhere in between. Reviews range from best day of the year, to driving around checking everywhere within a 200 click radius of home and never even putting on a leash.
Yesterday was an almost-super sesh at Ours. The north direction in the swell and crazy low tide meant two feet of backwash and a lack of exits. Despite this, Koby Abberton, Mark Mathews, Makua Rothman, Evan Faulks, Dan Ross, Dom Wills, Perth Standlick and more were on it. More on that later.
This morning, Taj’s session was finished before the sun had even cracked the horizon. In the pre-rise glow, TB slid through three real good ones, the first of which was in almost-darkness. This is his second wave…
