You want the wild, the rural, the remote? “This is in deep Central America at a small fishing village,” says the photographer, Mr Morgan Maassen, who trapped this image upon celluloid (Kodak Gold 200, if y’wondering). “Kelly Slater, Steph Gilmore, Matt Hoy and I pulled up to absolutely flawless sets reeling through, with nothing but fishermen launching their boats and families relieving themselves from the scorching heat in the (also scorching) water. We surfed for hours, then ate fresh fish and drank beers at the lone restaurant, several paces behind me.” But, where is this wave?, the Stab reader reasonably asks, having spent eight dollars already on the print edition and therefore inclined to believe the service might include useful information. Stab responds with clues. Might this wave be located near an artificially created sea port? Does the country share a border across six of its own states and with four American states? Do working gals get shunted in tiny stand-up rooms in the corner of dive bars? Is the beer world famous and so delicious and refreshing and light? We say Yes!
