Steph Gilmore stays in key at Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast
“There’s a tropical low sitting off the coast of south-east Queensland and right now I’m reading the surf report which says it’s even bigger today and pumping, so I’m signing off and hitting the road,” says photog Simon Muirhead from the Gold Coast. “Everyone was at snapper yesterday but I didn’t see Mick or Joel. I heard someone saying they saw him at the domestic terminal. Secret mission?” Perhaps. Probably. But here we enjoy the style and lip strike of a multiple women’s world champ in Steph Gilmore. Steph won the Roxy Pro last year at Snapper and it set the tone for the rest of her year. Given how much she’s returned to her usual form and some of the performances she gave last year (Lowers!) you can surely expect more of the same in 2015.
