Everyone on the world tour was in the lineup lighting it up, but mostly feeling out boards and only firing at 70 percent capacity. Julian Wilson, on the other hand (pictured above), was going 100 percent. And, for a brief window into what it is like to be Julian Wilson just for a moment, we offer the conversation that photog Ryan Miller had with a “youngish cougar in the making” after shooting this sequence. Jules came in, slapped some fives and disappeared. The woman bolted up to Ryan.
“Who was that?” she asked.
“Um, Julian Wilson,” replied Miller. “He is Australian.”
“He is absolutely amazing!” she said.
“Amazing at surfing or amazingly beautiful?” asked Miller.
“Well, both!” she smiled.
