Otis Carey, High-End Surfing at Maroubra, Australia

Otis Carey’s come along way from packing boxes in the Insight warehouse (where he was first discovered by the company). This morning he was shot wearing a Tommy Hilfiger suit jacket, shirt and tie, as well as a Gucci outfit and a Dolce & Gabbana get-up. The shoot was for GQ Japan and Vogue Europe – two of the most high-end men’s fashion magazines in existence. Otis scored the gig through a photographer buddy and, though he said he had an absolute ball, the jacket was a little restrictive and felt like an extra 50kg on his back. He still managed to nail the neat air-reverse you see here. Forget the easy Zoolander references, a foray into high-fashion at this level by a surfer is unprecedented.
