Last night, Michel Bourez, pictured here, along with Jeremy Flores and more, surfed Teahupoo. In January. An oddly clean swell arrived, and d’you think the gents within close proximity to the world tour’s heaviest reef were thrilled? Late in the evening, Michel arched through this one standing tall and hooted as he was slingshotted into the channel, which we’re absolutely backing. It’s no 15-foot Hawaii, but the vividly blue water and crisply folding lip is more than enough. “He was so happy and frothing to be back in the water,” says Dom. “He’d been waiting for waves for a long time, so he was like a little kid in the line up, all smiles and psyched to get barreled. He even took a few with a bodyboard he was so psyched.”
