“You’re too deep every time y’paddle into it,” says Mark Mathews of this South Coast wave. After surfing Ours the previous day, Mark and his pals headed a little further south to a spot they knew would be on. The session at Ours had been Ross Clarke-Jones’ first-ever, and Mark had given him a proper introduction by whipping him in pretty damn deep. “He was a little bit rattled, for a dude that throws himself into 80-foot Jaws pits,” says Mark. Mark, being an avid swell-chaser, is planning to follow this same swell over to WA and then on to Bali. And y’know he’ll have this GoPro wand dragging behind him the whole time. Expect a compilation of mind-blowing footage in the not-too-distant future.
