“I Was Dragged Over The Dry Rock Ledge And Into The Depths”
Imogen Caldwell and a sequence that commands respect.
The past few days have seen a flurry of destructive content splashed across our feed.
Boatslams at Nias, unholy gurgling entities at The Right and various warriors perched in dangerous wave riding situations across Indonesia and Australia’s west, ever since the Indian Ocean made one hell of a noise several days back.
Stories of injury and survival (thankfully nothing more serious), have began to surface, and as we begin our temporary desensitisation to giant barrels and marine destruction, only the wildest happenings are piquing our interest.
One post in particular deserved a halted scroll.
Watched in awe as the Brown Brothers surfed this wave the other day, I knew it was only a matter of time before I’d get handed the rope.
Got a little carried away and went too deep, trying to copy Kerby’s form.
I was dragged over the dry rock ledge and into the depths, surfaced to find @cortneycbrown frantically trying to find me. I think he was more scared than I was!
Thanks team @cortneycbrown@kerby_brown @rickrifici
We reached out to Imogen to elaborate…
Imogen, tell us anything and everything!
Well it’s the same wave that you guys posted earlier of Kerby Brown.”
“It’s fucking scary. Shallow, heavy, mean and is barely classified as a wave.
“The boys roped me into driving the ski for Rick Rifici, but as we launched the skis, Cortney Brown told me to chuck my board on…
“I knew I wasn’t getting out of it.
“I drove a couple hours, watched Kerb get some of the craziest waves i’ve ever witnessed and sure enough, after a few hours, they told me to grab the rope.
“I came into it a little too casually, I stood up and faded when I should have been racing for the channel.”
How was the beat down?
“I’ve had worse.”
