A general inertia besets us all from time to time. And after a day of interviews, with fingers beating in time to subjects talking (like, fast!), sometimes the journalist will resort to the email interview. Sometimes it work, sometimes it don’t. When DJ Struntz was asked, politely as hell, to paint a picture of his image, he wrote: “My favourite bearded Taliban performing aerial dances under a poppy field moon.” Which is cute enough. But it don’t give the reader the information to enhance his enjoyment of the photo. So, bing bing, another international call, more fingers tap-dancing at speed across the keyboard, at which point the following data was recorded: this photo was shot right near the magnificent boutique hotel Haciendo Cerritos there in Baja Mexico. It was a 10-day test shoot for the new Globe film, Strange Rumblings, and Dion, here, is surfing just after dark, with the last remaining barbs of light bouncing off the nearby mountains thereby creating the soft reds you see here. “My deal is, I never quit until the last surfer has come in. You never know what may happen,” says DJ.
