Band Practice in Saquarema, Brazil
Saquarema, Brazil: The site of a six-star Prime event that immediately followed the Billabong Pro, Barra Da Tijuca. After the Rio WT event, photog Ryan Miller scooted over to hang at at Saquarema for an evening, before heading home to put the camera down for a while. He was delighted, as he always is when travelling, by the contrast between the great food and nightlife of Rio, to the dirt roads and lights-out at 8pm of Saquarema. The men y’see here are Patty Gudauskas, Tanner Gudauskas, Dylan Graves and Nate Yeomans. According to Ryan, the vibe in accommodation for a ‘QS event can, like location, be quite a contrast to that of a WT event: “It’s pretty cool to see guys with this much love for each other on the ‘QS,” says Miller. “Guys get along on the CT for sure, but it’s pretty dog-eat-dog in the big leagues. On the ‘QS, guys travel together so much more and work as a team to keep the morale high. These boys here bring little guitars with them and play music together all the time. Pretty rad, compared to some of the intensity of the CT events.” Y’can check out more of Ryan’s work, here.
