Where is the diamond? What is left?” – Solomon Vandy (Blood Diamond)

Solomon Vandy uttered this rhetoric in response to a Sierra Leonean warlord accusing him of pocketing a sizable red gemstone from his slave farm. To be sure, Solomon’s cavities were harboring no gemstones, the one-of-a-kind diamond had changed hands and was no longer available for said warlord’s racket.

The same will be the case for prospective buyers after Haydenshapes Black Friday special.

Haydenshapes have just unveiled ‘ALTER’ a line-up of seven of Haydenshapes signature and legacy models with design updates inspired by team riders; Craig Anderson, Dion Agius, Dylan Graves, Jake Kelley, Shama Beckford, Nate Tyler & Micky Clarke. They’ve also thrown in collector edition ‘ALTER’ board art for all new ‘altered’ models bought during the Black Friday period (Thursday-Monday).

The ‘ALTER’ Collection includes:

  • Hypto Krypto Twin Pin FutureFlex – Signal Red [Craig Anderson]
  • Virtue FutureFlex – Canary Yellow [Dylan Graves]
  • Grail Twin Pin FutureFlex – Aqua Blue [Jake Kelley]
  • Cohort_II FutureFlex – Dove Grey [Micky Clarke]
  • Hypto Krypto Twin Pin FutureFlex – White Opaque [Shama Beckford]
  • Little Raven PU – Nathan Kostechko Art [Dion Agius]
  • Untitled Squash FutureFlex – Sand [Nate Tyler]

In addition to the 7 new and limited edition shapes, HS have unlocked HSSTUDiO ‘ALTER’ board art, where you can apply custom artwork to any Haydenshapes surfboard via the HSSTUDiO custom board designer. Word has it there will even be a limited number of their stock range with the exclusive ‘ALTER’ artwork applied including the Hypto Krypto, HK twin, Mid Length Glider, Cohort_I, and the Holy Grail.

Here are the nuts and bolts of the deal.

  • 20% OFF [ALTER] Surfboard Collection.
  • 20% OFF HSSTUDiO custom surfboards.
  • 20% OFF softboards.
  • 20% OFF hardware.
  • 50% OFF miscellaneous.

Below Hayden walks us through each of his updated ‘ALTER’ designs

Hypto Krypto Twin Pin FutureFlex – Signal Red [Craig Anderson] & White Opaque [Shama Beckford]

The Hypto Krypto Twin Pin is a winged pin tail version of the Hypto Krypto model. Designed to be ridden 1-2” longer than your Hypto, it suits a neutral performance twin fin template like the great open face lines with control and response.

Virtue FutureFlex – Canary Yellow [Dylan Graves]

The Virtue is a small wave hybrid shape of the Hypto Krypto and Psychedelic Germ. Ridden 1-2” shorter than your Hypto Krypto and wider, the sidecut of the Germ incorporated into the Hypto outline brings a responsive, tight arc to the start of your turn. This helps pivot and maneuver smaller tight pockets in those smaller conditions. A great paddler with plenty of front foot volume, the Virtue is a super versatile small wave twist to the Hypto Krypto shape.

Grail Twin Pin FutureFlex – Aqua Blue [Jake Kelly]

The Grail Twin Pin is a winged pin tail version of the Holy Grail model. Designed to be ridden the same length as your Grail, it suits a performance twin fin template like the Futures T1. With the longer rail line and medium rocker, this will ride like a high-performance twin in good waves. With the sidecut of the Grail removed, the Grail Twin Pin will draw fast and drivey lines with a high level of sensitivity and response.

Cohort_II FutureFlex – Dove Grey [Micky Clarke]

The Cohort_II is an ideal performance shortboard groveller for those sub 4ft face days where board speed and release are required to make the most of your session. Ridden 1” shorter than the Cohort_I model, this board carries more surface area in the plan shape and has a hipped rounded diamond tail which allows for plenty of pivot in the pocket.

Little Raven PU – Nathan Kostechko Art [Dion Agius]

The Little Raven is a small wave take on Dion’s signature Raven model. Designed for great rail drive, but now adjusted to suit conditions up to 6ft faces. The Little Raven features a hipped swallow tail that creates enough pivot in smaller conditions, yet maintains drive when put on rail. The extra board width will create a little more release and freedom under your feet.

Untitled Squash FutureFlex – Sand [Nate Tyler]

The Un-Squash is a wider hip squash alteration to the Untitled v2 model. Designed with greater surface area to suit those super small conditions, this shape retains those deep single concavesunder the front foot which generates a lot of speed and lift under the front foot. The Un-Squash will surf freely, generating plenty of speed and release in even the weakest conditions.

Get in quick, snappy and don’t be that sooky warlord guy.
