Zeke Lau And Channel Islands Part Ways
The North Shore powerhouse now runs on local produce.
Zeke Lau and Channel Islands finally broke things off. The two have been together for as long as anyone can remember. For reference, the Instagram post below is from 2014.
Zeke Lau has spent his entire competitive career on CI surfboards and even helped contribute to the production of the Happy model.
Lau’s new board smith is Hawaiian legend Wade Tokoro. The new relationship seems appropriate, considering Wade grew up on the east side of Oahu. His true understanding of breaks like Pipe, Haleiwa, and Sunset is an undisputable advantage over competitors. Under the Tokoro umbrella, Zeke Lau will join the likes of 2-time World Champion Mick Fanning, 3-time World Champion Andy Irons, YouTube’s hottest commodity Jamie O’Brien.
Zeke has openly admitted to CI’s FJB model helping him consistently clinch a spot on tour, referring to it as “The Money Maker.” Perhaps the new deal with Tokoro will help Zeke qualify for next year’s CT. That is, of course, if there is one.
