Would You Ride These Boards At Pipeline?
Progressive crafts, rising swell, and a CPR lesson.
It’s one thing to ride the Banzai Pipeline. It’s another thing to do it well. And then, it’s an entirely different thing to do it on something other than a modern thruster or quad.
Pushing the limits of alternative board riding at Pipeline may seem like a death wish. And for many, it would be. But for elite surfers, pairing progressive crafts with a rising swell at Pipeline is quite enjoyable. In this section from The Pick-Up, Vans Triple Crown of Surfing competitors rip into an assortment of boards that aren’t considered the go-to equipment for barreling waves like Pipeline and Backdoor.
Standing out amongst the rest was Eithan Osborne, while riding the Pineapple Punch by Laroy Dennis and Loose Juice Surfboards — now that’s a tongue twister. But it checks out. (skip to 2:10 if you have no patience)
Also in this excerpt from Episode 3 of The Pick-Up, we have Kyle Foyle of North Shore Lifeguard Association giving a CPR lesson. Nate Fletcher says this is the most important skill that every surfer should know. Who are we to argue?
This is a segment from our weekly North Shore news show, The Pick-Up. A Stab and Vans joint. Watch Episode 3.
