King Tide Still Knocking On The Door Of Gold Coast Surf Club
And is Bribie Island getting a makeover?
For the second day in a row, a king tide has collided with the Currumbin Beach Viking Surf Club, creating a wall of sea foam around the building.
About 1600 south-east Queensland homes and businesses were without power on Tuesday afternoon, mostly on the Sunshine Coast, after almost 10,000 buildings were cut off on Monday, including more than 6000 in Brisbane and more than 1500 in the Scenic Rim.
Bribie Island has seemed to take a beating during the king tides as well.
The king tide did not erode Bribie Island much further on Tuesday, after the powerful waters cut through the northern tip on Monday.
However, a Department of Environment and Science expert says it is only a matter of time before the island is permanently split in two, given the long-term erosion that has worn the island down.
Severe weather and unnaturally high tides this week have provided some overwhelming conditions for those on the coast of south-east Queensland. Hopefully things settle down soon.
