Kelly Slater Just Told Reuters He’d “See Them In Australia”
Is the GOAT secretly vaxxed?
For 30 years on the world tour, Kelly Slater has kept us hanging on every word. Even into his fifth decade, it’s still happening today.
After the best W of his career at the Pipeline Pro last week, the surfing world has wondered what Slater plans to do next. Given his public stance on vaccine mandates (wholly against) and Australia’s strict rules to enter the country, it was unclear if Slater would compete in the upcoming Australian leg of the Championship Tour…assuming he was unvaccinated.
Now number 1 in the world at age 50, it’s highly possible that Kelly might be going down under after all.
In a phone conversation from Hawaii with Australian Reuters media, Slater said that he’d “see them in Australia.”
“(My vaccination status) is an important question, and there’s a reason I’m not talking about it that is personal,” he told Reuters. “I do believe that medical privacy is a real thing. But I think my answer is that I’ll see you in Australia.”
According to the World Surf League, Kelly hasn’t applied for a vaccine exemption. Stay tuned for more updates.
