Jack Robinson’s Pipeline Party & Harry Bryant’s Stacked Hawaii Quiver

Let’s get this straight, there isn’t anything better than getting barreled on your birthday.

At the upper echelon of birthday gifts, sinking your teeth into warm water tubes easily finds its way to the top. While we all can’t unwrap said gifts on our birthday for plenty of reasons — ranging from COVID travel restrictions to our chosen career to our goddamned kids — there are those lucky few like Jack Robinson and Tim O’Connor who always seem to find their way to the icing on the cake.

For Robbo, his 24th birthday was spent unwrapping presents from Pipeline amongst a hefty pack who glared at him enviously. You know how it goes in grade school. Jack managed to score an impressive run of waves in the morning and the evening, leaving us to assume that birthday surfers have permanent priority.

Quite possibly the only other thing that makes a surfer’s heart sing like a fistful of tubes is a beautiful quiver of boards to call your own. While it wasn’t Harry’s birthday, it may as well have been with the three-board-bag quiver he rocked up to the North Shore with. New boards, old boards, and new boards based on old boards from a story on The Pick-Up many moons ago. Hell, he even brought a Drag prototype in the mix.

Birthday barrels and stacked quivers aside, the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing has been underway and we’ve started to see the first round of entries make their way in. Mikey C has been crunching numbers and speculating scenarios in the Bunker to keep you informed as to who’s making moves in the run for the crown.
