Injured Surfer Saved After Writing ‘Help’ In The Sand
Why surfing alone isn’t always a good scenario.
A man surfing a remote beach in West Auckland, New Zealand fell on Wednesday and crashed into sharp rocks. His injuries we’re so severe that he was unable to walk through the surrounding bush.
His solution? Write the word ‘Help’ in the sand and hope someone noticed it. According to Daily Mail:
A woman on a walking track noticed the surfer writing the message before he collapsed in the sand and called the United North Piha Surf Club.
Two lifeguards on jet skis were deployed from Piha armed with first aid equipment to search for the man, who saw he had sustained serious injuries after locating the surfer.
After providing emergency first aid, the lifeguards transported the man back to Piha, where he was taken to hospital.
This surfer was lucky that someone walked by and could read his message in the sand. Surfing alone is peaceful, but it’s a dangerous habit when in remote locations.
