Florence: 1, Slater: 0
Facts are facts.
Every great empire must falter.
Rome. Compact discs. FTX.
We could have reasonably predicted that Kelly Slater’s competitive decline would come at the behest of a widely adored, incredibly athletic, and at times elusive creature called Florence. But we didn’t think it would be like this.
This week’s surf sin explains the origin of Slater’s dominance-ending foot injury suffered at Jeffrey’s Bay in 2017 — the same year Florence won his second world title, wouldn’t you believe it.

While we lament the fact that this ever happened, we must acknowledge the bravery it took for our sinner to out themself as the entity responsible for Kelly’s foot fracture. And especially to have its owner send the admission to @stab.
