Bali Airport Reopens To International Travelers (That’s You)
Here’s everything you need to know.
The Wall Street Journal reported that just 43 international visitors entered Bali in the first nine months of 2021. Anybody with a surf-centric Instagram feed knows that’s simply not the case.
Thanks in large part to one very clever Indonesian man, who managed to secure special visas for anyone with blue barrel dreams and a credit card, hundreds if not thousands of international surfers entered Bali and the rest of the Indonesian archipelago last year.
Due to the recent easing of Indonesia’s covid protocols, you no longer need to go through Mr. X to get into Indo, as Bali has officially opened its Ngurah Rai International Airport for the first time since 2020. This means you can now fly internationally direct to Bali, rather than diverting there via Jakarta.
While a quarantine remains in effect for all arrivals, it has been reduced to only 2 nights for fully vaccinated travelers (3 doses of vaccine) in an approved Bali quarantine hotel (or 4 nights for travelers with 2 doses; 6 nights for those with only single dose).
The government anticipates eliminating quarantine entirely for fully vaccinated travelers by April.
Here are the requirements for international travelers entering Bali:
- All arrivals must be vaccinated
- All visitors must show proof of hotel booking
- All arrivals must hold a negative PCR test (taken within 48 hours of flight departure)
- Hotel quarantine upon arrival in Bali is now just 2 nights (if you’ve had 3 vaccine doses)
While Visas on Arrival are still suspended throughout Indo, anyone can now apply for the 60-day E-Visa for tourism, business or social visits.
