2025’s First COTM Is A “How Surfers Get Paid” Dad Joke

Who drew first blood in this year’s Stab Premium battle royale?

We learned a lot of things in the latest episode of How Surfers Get Paid — where we mined the shrewd business acumen (or lack thereof) or Craig Anderson.

But in the last 10 seconds of the episode, we learn something heartwarming (you’ll have to watch the episode for the exact numbers): The money that Craig Anderson turned down years ago from a prospective Quiksilver contract is almost the exact amount of money that Craig’s equity in Former is now worth.

Quite serendip, we’d say.

And, our Stab Premium members were inspired. For the sake of one day liquidating Ando’s equity and ensuring his comfortable retirement, YewGuPooPoo stepped up, put his credit card on the line, and not only bolstered Craig’s bottom line, but also teed up john bede trehy for January’s Comment of the Month. Feast your blue light glasses on this dad joke:

JBT, please send us an email at [email protected] with screenshot proof of your Disqus account — you just won a free year of Stab Premium and you will be entered in the running for the mega-prize for “Comment of the Year” at then end of, you guessed it, the year.

If you remember from this article, J Bedes will now be one of 12 commenters (one for each month) that will be a candidate for COTY. He’ll be kicking against 11 other ponies for top honors.

And, with that, 2025’s Comment of the Year is here, like finding a slightly less burnt marshmallow in the campfire of humanity.
