Accountant Steals $1.5 Million From The Wright Siblings

Shane Maree Hatton, 53, faces hundreds of charges after allegedly stealing more than $1 million from Tyler, Owen, and Mikey Wright. As an accountant and friend of the family, Hatton was trusted to manage their monies. Shane first worked the books for the family’s plumbing company, and when their competitive surfing careers began to take off, she started handling the new income. 

Today, Hatton has accused of gambling away $1.2 million of their earnings and wasting the other $300k.

According to Daily Telegraph:

The registrar’s court heard the Office of the Department of Public Prosecutions had elected to prosecute the charges against Ms. Hatton. She will return to Nowra Local Court for brief service orders on June 21.

An unfortunate event for the Wright siblings, but at the rate they’re surfing, they’ll make that money back soon.
