Fact: You should go see Mark Ronson. If you didn’t fall in love with this man’s last long player with infectious hits Bang Bang Bang and Somebody To Love Me, then you certainly haven’t been able to ignore his newest offering, with the inescapable Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars) and Stab office fave Daffodils, the psych-funk epic that’s toplined by the vocal hypnotism of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.
Mr Ronson is currently in Oz for Splendour In The Grass. Splendour, in case for some bizarre reason you’re unawares, is a three-day lovefest in Byron Bay, a beautiful mess of perfectly-curated music, fermented things in liquid form that make you feel better, and the vibes that only come from those two things when blended. But NYC to PER is a long ways to fly for only one show, so luckily for the country Mr Ronson is doing a three-pack of sideshows:
Wed 22 July – Metro City, Perth
Tue 28 July – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Wed 29 July – Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne
And to sweeten the deal, the effervescent existence that is Kirin J Callinan will be playing all those shows with Mr Ronson too. Shades of Melbourne’s 80s post-punk scene reincarnate via Kirin’s stage presence and overall demeanour, and when he plugs in it’s anything but dull. You won’t wanna miss these shows.
