Seven TCSS Pieces To Slide Under The Tree

Treat the husband, or someone else’s (it’s much more fun if you don’t get caught).

You don’t win awards for making menswear, but if there was a prize for continually evolving then surely TCSS would be in with a shout.

Thrice winners of our previously annual trunk contest, the Sydney (via the central coast) brand are proponents of the little things in our world that, whilst not necessarily pushing surfing performance, make the landscape a little richer in colour – the bands, the artists, the overall aesthetic of what surfers look like. No one rides the winds of trend more than TCSS, and that’s not a bad thing at all. And, if you’re after a gift for a man in your life, you can’t really go wrong.

Tasteful Graphic Tee

Tees are the easiest thing to make, and hardest to get right. A good graphic goes a long way, and we’re fond of this tasteful take on the peace sign, which was originally created by UK artist/designer Gerald Holton for the Brits’ Nuclear Disarmament movement. Further kudos for the “Bondi Road” insignia for giving us a nostalgic kick in the direction of our original HQ.

Associated Trunks

We’ve been going bright ‘n loud in the boardshorts department recently, but there’ll always be a place in our hearts for a pair of clean, black trunks. These print laden numbers are in that beautiful hitting area of being perfect for hanging at the beach and dipping in and out for swims, but also fit for stealing a foamie off the beach and going for a spin.

Mix it Up Button-Up

Menswear gets pretty monotonous in summer. Shorts, slides, tee, shorts, slides, tee, repeat. You try and wear trousers for variety, sweat through them for a day and put them away until the mercury starts to dip. Mix it up with a button up like this: neutral in colour so goes with anything. Light, breezy – wear with trunks, shorts, a David Beckham style sarong (sure to make a comeback eventually), feel refreshed for a day and the return to tedium.

Continue Loving Corduroy

It’s too hot for cords, but corduroy’s still the best, comfiest material ever invented. And it works on hats. Grab one of these and watch it fade shade by shade into baggy green perfection throughout summer’s to come.

Shorts for Walking

“Walkshorts” is a dorky term, they’re the Achilles heel of more than a few style-conscious gents, but they’re essential summer fare. Tailored chino-style shorts make you look like Clark Griswald, but these casual blue TCSS offerings are the perfect middle ground. Dress ’em up or down, and sleep easy knowing that they’re made entirely from hemp twill; a fabric as sustainable as it is breathable.

Ceramic One-hitter

Who doesn’t love smoking joints? There’s a million fun names for them (doobies, spliffs, fun sticks, jazz ciggies, green whistles etc), they’re fun to roll, fun to puff, fun to pass etc. But, unless you’ve got an almighty stash and don’t mind burning through herb, you’re going to have to spin ’em with tobacco, which is problematic (see: carcinogenic). Alternatively, you’ve got one of these (it’s not a piggy bank). Produce from tote, crumble green in top, fire up, continue with day.

Future Fav Long-sleeve

There’s something about long-sleeve tees that make them so beloved after a few washes. If they fade, take the effect ad multiply it by five. This TCSS tee’s a nice colour to start with, and will only get better once the colour gradually begins to run out and the graphic adopts that chipped, warn-in feel.
